reporting
results -- in case anyone's interested! I ran 7:26 pace, a little better than
my 7:30 goal pace. Each mile except the first and last was within a few seconds
on 7:30, including the miles with good size hills, so I was happy with that part.

**Congratulations, Maria, on running your first marathon!!
The course was very
hilly with 4 miles of hard rain and 4 miles of gravel roads. However, it was very scenic with winding
roads beginning in Kentucky and ending in West Virginia.
“This course has been certified by the Hatfields’ and
McCoys’, usin’ the most moderin form of measurement known to us at this time,
the speed-o-meter of a Dodge pick’em up truck.”
“Finish the race before dark!!! Cause that’ when most of the
shootin’s and hangins’ start.” “No
feudin’ – just runnin”

Kim DeRosa reports from Virginia
I ran a 5K race on Saturday –
it was ALL women. The men worked, while
the women ran. The t-shirt we got was
pink!! I had a PR – 23:18! I came in 22nd out of 259, but
was 6th in my age group. The
winner was a 42 year old – she did a 19:15.

Kilbride Family Classic 5K, June 15
My 22:03 was the first
sign that I might be getting back to my pre-injury speed. I have, however, aggravated my back, so it
remains to be seen if I will find my way back to the low 21’s.
The Old Canal Days 5K in Lockport, (the next weekend)
This is perhaps the
hilliest 5K I have ever run. I picked
up a 2AG with a time of 22:10.
Bourbonnais Friendship Festival 5K (the next weekend)
I ran 21:47 for 2AG and
my best post-injury time. I guess I’ll
pronounce myself “back” to pre-injury form.
