Schedule of Events:

The Run Before the Parade

Runners – here’s your chance for a unique racing experience with a point to point race along streets lined with thousands of cheering spectators. The De Soto 5K Run is your opportunity to race down the middle of Manatee Avenue, along the parade route, just before the Grand Parade. After the race, awards and refreshments are held in the School Board parking lot, just a short walk to downtown Bradenton to view the parade. Proceeds from the race fund the BRC scholarship program.

4:30 p.m. - packet pick up and registration opens at School Board downtown

5:45 p.m. - registration closes

5:50 p.m. - last shuttle leaves to take runners to start at Manatee High School

6:15 p.m. - 5K RUN STARTS AT MHS - corner of 32 St W and 9 Ave W

7:15 p.m. - door prizes & awards in School Board parking lot

PLEASE NOTE: There is NO registration at the high school.

Runners park at the Manatee County School Board Administration parking lot. Shuttles will take you to Manatee High School for the start of the race. Last shuttle leaves at 5:50 p.m. PLEASE take an earlier shuttle - do not wait for the last shuttle as there may not be enough room for everyone.

Race starts at Manatee High School (corner of 9th Ave W & 32nd St W) at 6:15 p.m.
NO REGISTRATION AVAILABLE AT HIGH SCHOOL. Also, after the race, there is no transportation from downtown back to the high school. All runners are strongly encouraged to park downtown and use the shuttles to the start. Take an early shuttle - do not wait for the last shuttle. The race will start on time so don't miss it!

DIRECTIONS
From I-75 take exit 220 and go west on SR 64/Manatee Ave to downtown Bradenton, turn left into Manatee County School Board Administration parking lot at 215 Manatee Ave W.

Course Details:

be safe out there The De Soto 5K Run will lead the De Soto Grand Parade. The run will begin at Manatee High School at 6:15 p.m. and follow the parade route (in front of the parade) to the Manatee County School Board Administration parking lot downtown.

The De Soto 5K Run is sanctioned by the Bradenton Runners Club and insured by Road Runners Club of America. For safety reasons the following are NOT permitted on the race course: strollers, baby joggers, bicycles, scooters, dogs, and headphones. Anyone in violation will be legally responsible for any injuries to self and others. Violators may be disqualified from awards/results at the discretion of the race director.

BRC MISSION STATEMENT
The Bradenton Runners Club is a community based organization dedicated to the promotion of running and walking to improve health and well-being. The BRC’s mission is to encourage people of all ages to embrace a healthy lifestyle through running, group training sessions, and community races, and to raise money to fund scholarships which are used to reward young distance runners in our community.

The Bradenton Runners Club is a member of Road Runners Club of America (RRCA club #816) and USA Track & Field (USATF club #14-1132).
