G.T. Bray's 51st Street Park
Bradenton, FL 34209


PARKING
Enter at the main entrance to G.T. Bray Park and use the parking lots off the main road near the restrooms, soccer fields, and tennis courts. The race starts in front of the G.T. Bray main entrance sign (just off of 51st St W). Packet pick up is a short walk north of parking/restrooms. Overflow parking is at the Colonial Baptist Church, but DO NOT jump the fence.


DIRECTIONS

From I-75: Take exit 220 and go west on SR 64/Manatee Ave to 51st Street West. Take a left onto 51st St W and continue south, then take a right into the G.T. Bray Park main entrance (south of the Colonial Baptist Church and 51st St W Park entrance). Park in the G.T. Bray parking lots near the soccer fields, restrooms, and tennis courts. Packet pick up and registration are at the 51st St W Park entrance just north of the parking areas. If parking lots are full, please use the overflow parking at the church.

Other: From US 301 or US 41 - get to SR 64/Manatee Ave, head west to 51st St W, then follow the above.

FAMILY REGISTRATION
If you wish to register 3 or more family members from the same household, we are happy to offer you a discount. To be eligible, all entries must be mailed in together with payment and all must reside at the same residence. If you are interested in this option, please email Coach Rae Ann Darling Reed. Discounts may not be combined.

HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS
If you wish to register 8 or more athletes together, we are happy to offer a group rate. To be eligible, all entries must be mailed in together with payment. Race day entries or payment will not be allowed at the discounted rate. All race day entries will be at full price. If you are interested in this option, please email Coach Rae Ann Darling Reed. High school athletes who register themselves individually pay the 18 & Under price.

Awards & Amenities:

5K AWARDS: Overall, Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+), Senior Grand Masters (60+), & Veteran Grand Masters (70+). Age group awards through 3rd place in the following categories: 9 & under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.

1 MILE AWARDS: Overall female & male (must be registered for 1 mile). Ribbons to all 1 Mile finishers.

T-SHIRTS: Brooks Podium technical short sleeve shirts. The 2009 shirts are white in men's/unisex sizes. Click here to check out the shirts and size guide. Unique designs every year make this a highly sought after race T-shirt. Canes Classic T-shirts are only guaranteed to our pre-registered participants. We do run out every year on race day, so PLEASE PRE-REGISTER!

POST RACE: Baked goods, fruit, water, juice, and more. Great door prizes including cool running gear, sunglasses, and other merchandise, restaurant gift certificates, and running store gift cards to pre-registered participants only.

DONATIONS: Tax deductible donations are welcome to help the Manatee High Cross Country team continue putting on this great Labor Day tradition. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and will directly benefit the Canes Classic participants by way of better quality race shirts, amenities, more giveaways and refreshments. Course Details:

THE COURSE
The Canes Classic is a 5K race and 1 Mile fun run/walk held on Manatee High School’s home Cross Country course at the G.T. Bray 51st St W Park. Grass, dirt, asphalt, and trails make up a scenic run through and around the shady 51st Street West Park.

SAFETY GUIDELINES
Insurance does not cover the following, therefore they are not allowed: headphones or radio headsets, strollers or baby joggers, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, & animals. NO STROLLERS OR BABY JOGGERS - This is a cross country race with uneven terrain and narrow trails.
